Got a text from Okaybird?

Someone added you as an emergency contact in Okaybird, a safety check-in app. You'll only get texts if you replied YES and they tap SOS or miss a check-in. Reply STOP to stop all Okaybird texts, START to opt back in, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. How Okaybird texts work.

If an alert says someone needs help and you can't reach them, call 911 or your local emergency number.

Troubleshooting

My alert doesn't include my location

Open Okaybird's Settings and check that “Include my location in alerts” is on. Then make sure location permission for Okaybird is allowed (“While using the app”) in your phone's settings. Indoors or underground, GPS may not get a fix in time; the alert says so when that happens.

I don't get timer notifications

Allow notifications for Okaybird in your phone's settings, and check that Do Not Disturb or Focus isn't hiding them. On Android, battery-saver settings can delay notifications, so consider turning off battery optimization for Okaybird.

Tapping Text Emergency Contacts doesn't open Messages

Texting needs a device that can send SMS. On a tablet, add an email address for your contacts and use Email Emergency Contacts instead. For email, a mail app needs to be set up on the device.

My contacts don't save

Tap Save after editing. Okaybird checks phone numbers and email addresses for typos and won't save one it can't use; fix the highlighted field and try again.

How do I test it without scaring anyone?

Add your own number or email as a contact, start a short custom timer (1 or 2 minutes), and let it run out, or tap SOS and confirm. You'll see exactly what your contacts would receive.

I sent an SOS by accident

Nothing is sent until you tap Send in Messages or Mail, so you can just close the message. If you did send it, let your contacts know you're okay.

What does Reset do?

Reset clears the current check-in after asking you to confirm. Your saved contacts and settings stay.
